Late 1860’s early 1870’s Prairie Belt
To carry metallic cartridge ammunition more effectively than the regulation cartridge boxes, troopers on the frontier fabricated their own looped cartridge belts.
Our version is made using an 1861 waist belt with hand sewn leather loops in 4570 or 5070, please specify.

1876 Pattern Prairie Belt
The first regulation cartridge belt manufactured and issued by the Ordnance Dept. It was an immediate success with troops in the field.
Our faithful reproduction is constructed just like the original belts with hand sewn loops and tongue billet as well as arsenal and inspectors stamps.

1876 Pattern Prairie Belt with field modification
As the 1876 Prairie Belt was to wide to accommodate the regulation pistol holster and pistol cartridge box many cavalry troopers modified their belts to carry these important items in the field.
We offer a version using our standard 1876 Prairie Belt with exterior strap attachment for pistol holster and pistol cartridge box. This strap can be made in russet or black please specify.
